RITA T. HAAS

1925 - 2015

RITA T. HAAS, 89, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015, at the Hospice Care Center in Ashland. The Ironton native was born June 24, 1925, the daughter of the late George J. and Matilda Walker Monnig. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. "Charlie" Haas, who passed away July 13, 1977. Mrs. Haas was a graduate of St. Joseph High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Catholic Women's Club. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a grandson, C.J. Haas; a great-grandson; two sisters, Anna Marie Laber and Ruth McMakin; and two brothers, Francis and Wilford Monnig. She is survived by six daughters and five sons-in-law, Betsy Rawlins of Ironton, Patricia and Lanny Cavin of Ironton, Rita Jane and Jim Holmes of Middletown, Ohio, Therese and Charlie Carte of Ironton, Mary and Jerry Murnahan of Ironton and Janet and Marion Priode of Ironton; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael and Nancy Haas of Ironton and Charlie and Kimberly Haas of Ironton; a stepbrother-in-law, Fred and Phyllis Howell of Ironton; 14 grandchildren, Charles Eric Rawlins, Scott Rawlins, Jessica Kilgore, Chad Haas, Tricia Damron, Amy Holmes, Kyle Holmes, Andy Holmes, Chris Carte, Tanner Carte, Jeri Rae Bridges, Chuck Murnahan, Charliegh Jo Haas and Ashley Priode; and 16 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ironton, with Father David Huffman officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. Monday and 10 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South Seventh Street, Ironton.
