Janet Festinger Obituary

Janet Q Festinger
January 29, 2021
Coral Gables, Florida - Janet Quartin Festinger passed away on January 29th at 90 years old. She was born in Brooklyn and moved to Miami when she was about 6 years old with her parents, Ruth and Irving and older brother Herb.
Janet graduated from Miami High and the University of Alabama. She loved her sorority, Sigma Delta Tau, so much that she remained active in the Panhellenic Association working with college women in the sorority system at the University of Miami until only 6 years ago and was awarded nationally for her service. Janet also was perhaps the longest serving member and past president several times of the Ceramic League of Greater Miami where she spent a great deal of time sculpting, teaching and helping with sales. For many years, Janet was an active member of Coral Reef Yacht Club where she wrote for the monthly newsletter and where she met Art Kadey, with whom she spent some of her happiest years helping run the office of his yacht business and living a joyful life together.
Janet is survived by her children, Joan Miller (James), Michael Festinger, grandchildren Daniel and Jesse and great grandchild, Killian. Also the Quartin clan including Herb's wife, Edee, Wendy, Dale (Nancy), their kids, Steve Quartin (Mary) their children, several other cousins, old friends and her very long time next door and across the street neighbors whose friendships she so appreciated. Donations to the Miami Women's Panhellenic Association may be mailed to 680 Calatrava Avenue, Coral Gables, FL 33143.
A memorial will be announced at a later date.

Some of my favorite memories in the 31 years we lived in Miami (1972 to 2003) involve Janet. We shared Panhellenic experiences and personal visits. Great person and wonderful laugh and sense of humor. If I still drank scotch I would lift a glass to her memory and to all the happy hours we shared at her house. One of my favorite people for sure.
