Phillip Bass Obituary

Phillip Raymond "Ray" Bass of Sherman, 64-year-old retired employee for the Sherman Police Department, departed this earth peacefully at his home on Monday, March 24, 2008. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2008 in the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Ray's final resting place will be Willow Wild Cemetery in Sherman.
Ray was born Aug. 4, 1943 in Bonham, and graduated from Bonham High School in 1961. He served in the U.S. Navy from August 1962 until his honorable discharge in July 1964. He later graduated from Austin College in Sherman, Texas and was employed by Austin College in the security department. He was a dedicated member of the Sherman Police Department for more than 20 years, serving as dispatcher and evidence control. He also was a substitute teacher for Sherman public schools. He had a passion for raising pigeons and was a very proud and active member of the Pigeon Club in Grayson County.
Ray was preceded in death by his dear wife of thirty-three years, Patricia Bass. He is survived by children: Matthew Bass and family of Virginia Beach, Va., Debby Ramazani and family of Las Vegas, Nev., Chrissy Collins and family of Sherman, and Brian Bass and family of Jefferson City, Mo. He is also survived by his mother, Lou Frances Milford of Mesquite; brothers, Stephen Milford of Athens and John Milford of Dallas; and many other relatives and friends who knew and loved him throughout his lifetime.
