"The best daddy ever" Bob Millsap was born on May 13, 1938 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. The second of three sons for W Scott and Pauline Pipkins Millsap. He passed away August 1, 2017, at Texoma Medical Center in Denison. He was 79 years old.
Bob graduated from Muskogee High School in 1956, and received an associate's degree in education from Muskogee Junior College, and a bachelor's degree in education from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. As a young man, Bob worked as a soda jerk for the local drug store.
In 1967, Bob moved with his family to Denison and became the manager for L.O. Hammond's Dad and Lads clothier. Bob left the store in 1977, and opened his own businesses on Main Street, including The Showcase Gift House for gifts, home décor, and stationery as well as The Other Place, a clothing store geared to teenage customers. It was during this time, Bob taught himself how to bake and decorate wedding cakes, and the business of catering. Concurrent to these businesses, Bob was a top salesman for the Martha Miniature Company, a clothier of fancy little girls' dresses.
As if he didn't have enough to do, Bob began dabbling in real estate, and grew that into Millsap Properties. He flipped houses before flipping houses was an HGTV staple. In addition to his own real estate, he managed properties for several Grayson County property owners. Bob was known by tenants to be kind, compassionate, funny, and quick to fix problems. His fellow property owners found him to be honest and reliable.
While working for Martha's Miniatures, Bob met Alene Oster and married her in 1990. She joined him in his property management business, and they enjoyed traveling together, until she passed away in 2010.
Bob's greatest joy was being the father of his only daughter, Sally Millsap, and being a grandfather and great-grandfather. He also loved his church family at Faith Fellowship Baptist Church in Denison and played both the piano and organ there for many years. In 2016, Bob donated his beloved grand piano to the church. He also played the organ at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Denison for a number of years before that. Bob always considered his playing to be his service to God.
Besides his daughter, survivors include his grandchildren, Matthew Preston Hodges and wife Shelbi, Erica Jill Mendez and husband Isaac, and Rachel Denise Sartor and husband Hunter; great-grandchildren, Rayne, Dakota, Abigale, and Alexander; brother, Frank Millsap and his wife Mary of Sachse, Texas; sister-in-law, Loretta Millsap of Gentry, Arkansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
