Chief Phillips was a quiet but effective leader, and never too busy for a friendly conversation in the hall or parking lot. He was of great assistance to my department in dealing with some student issues over the last couple of years. This is a hard loss for anyone across the college that ever had the opportunity to work with him.

To Jim's family:
I am so sorry to hear this news. I worked with Jim on occasion at GTCC as a contractor and always enjoyed his postive, upbeat attitude. You always seemed to come away from meeting with Jim with a smile.
Our prayers and sympathy are with your family.

Though I didn't know Chief Phillips well, we served on a few committees together and he was also helpful in a few issues with students throughout the years. He was a kind, generous, calming presence, and was always willing to help and be of service. This is a true loss, and I send my love and condolences to his family and friends. We will miss him and appreciate his dedication and support to all of us at GTCC.
