Charles Savoca Obituary

Savoca MD., Charles John
Apr. 20, 1942 - Jan. 23, 2015
Charles John Savoca MD, passed away at home on January 23, 2015 with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, and children Chuck (Christine), Heather (Kent), Ashley (Grant), Jennie, and Chris (Emily). He is also survived by his two sisters Nene and Susan. He was Pop Pop to Chuck's children Matthew, Nicholas, and Daniel; Papa to Heather's Nate and Gillian. Chuck was born in Cleveland, OH in 1942 to Charles and Rose Savoca. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1964 and the University of Michigan Medical School in 1968. He served in the Army for 6 years then completed his training in Radiology at the University of California San Francisco. He moved to Florida in 1979 and worked at Radiology Associates of Venice and Englewood (RAVE) for 34 years. Chuck was cherished by both colleagues and patients as a caring physician who practiced medicine with a loving heart. It brought him great joy to share his knowledge and wisdom, from in-depth discussions with adults to life lessons with his grandchildren. His love of family defined him as a man, a husband, father, and grandfather. His golf buddies would tell you his passion for golf knew no bounds. He was always searching for the perfect swing to perfect his game. A man so knowledgeable, loving, and supportive will be missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be held at Epiphany Cathedral at noon on Saturday, January 31, 2015. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Joe Turnesa Memorial Golf Scholarship or the charity of your choice.

Through tears I write: "My Big Brother. . . My life would not have been the same if it had not been for my
"Chuckie"! He was the one who would take time to talk to me, teach me, and take me places. When he was in high school, and I was still a pip-squeak, he would stop into my room after he got home from a date, or a game, and he'd say, "Are you still up?"
"Yes," I'd say, "I'm not tired."
He'd say, " Mark my words, Sis, one of these days you're going to LOVE to go to sleep!"
Chuck, you were a wonderful brother... husband and father. And now, I am sure that Mom is so pleased to have you up there... where she can introduce everyone to "HER SON, the DOCTOR"! You will be sorely missed Big Brother.
I love you, Sis"

I was so blessed to have been such a small part of Chuck's life. Knowing Chuck, even for the short time it was, made a difference in my life, making me better at what I do! Barbara you are an incredible woman, which I will admire forever. My deepest condolences to the Savoca family, immediate and extended.

To have not seen the Savoca family since 1979 when they moved from California and to be so saddened by hearing of this says it all. I remember the greatness and love of this man and his family as if they left yesterday. My heart goes out to Barbara, Chuck Jr, Heather and the rest of the family.

To my family....Nene', Aunt Sis, Aunt Barb, my cousins, Chuckie, Heather, Ashley, Jenny and Chris, and their children.... Uncle Chuck was a great man. We were all blessed to have known him! He will never be forgotten. As he now resides in Heaven with his loving parents, they all smile upon us. Watching us grow, bringing life and laughter to this world, they are patient. We all have a life to live until one day, we are reunited.
