Gerald John McGinn ('Jack') was born, May 22, 1922 in Hubbardston, Michigan.
He married Mary Van Beelen in 1942 who preceded him in death in 1973. They had 8 children, Diann (deceased), Daniel, Kathleen, Timothy, Darryl, Gerald, Cary and Kenneth. In 1975 Jack married Jennifer Broomfield (Jenni) and her three children, Stephen, Alastair and Nicola. He had seventeen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Jack attended St. John's school in Hubbardston, Michigan, and graduated from Cleary University in Ypsilanti where he received a degree in business administration. He was hired by General Motors at Ternstedt in Detroit in their accounting department and shortly afterwards enlisted in the Naval Air force for three years. After an honorable discharge in December 1954 he hired into Oldsmobile in Lansing, Michigan, on hourly on the assembly line. Later he was promoted to Manager of the engine, paint and assembly plants and retired after 39 years with Oldsmobile. He was always proud of the respect and rapport he had with hourly and salaried personnel. These plants were always at or near the top in the General Motors Corporation.
While in Lansing he was very active at Resurrection school and church and also volunteered his time in many community events. He was particularly proud of the successes of his Little League teams. Jack was a member of the Chamber of Commerce , the Elks Club, the Knights of Columbus, Walnut Hills Country Club and St. Thomas Aquinas Church in East Lansing.
Jack and his wife, Jenni, moved to Florida in 1987 where he became a member of the Church of St. Patrick, was very active at the Bobby Jones Golf Complex and proud of his three holes in one. He delivered food at Meals on Wheels for many years, was a member of the Meadows Country Club and a fourth degree Knights of Columbus, and belonged to the Freedom Boat Club.
He enjoyed his travels with Jenni, both here and abroad.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 5 at 11 a.m. at the Church of St. Patrick.

A tribute to a greatest generation- Probably the most decent men I have ever known.

On behalf of Hands on Hubbardston, I would like to express our condolences on Jack's passing. Also, as owner of The Celtic Path, I help people do local genealogy, I have a picture of Jack on a ball team.
Hands on Hubbardston is in it's fourth year of fundraising by hosting multiple events on the third weekend of July. This year our efforts will go to Homeless Angels and Hope Lodge. In three years, we have raised over $80,000. Not bad for a town of 400. Jack would be proud.
Our weekend begins with Hope Floats. Last year we launched over 500 LED balloons in memory of loved ones. A balloon will be launched in memory of Jack. If a family member is available, they are very welcome to launch his balloon.
In sympathy....Patricia Baese
