James Sidenstick Obituary

James Edgar Sidenstick, 76, Port Charlotte, died March 12, 2002. He was born in Chicago and graduated with an electrical engineering degree from Purdue University. He retired from General Electric Aircraft Division in Cincinnati in 1987. He was inducted into the General Electric Aircraft Hall of Fame in 2001. He was a member of the Professional Engineering Society. Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Marlu; children Catherine Leininger of Dayton, Ohio, Carol Baker of Brownsburg, Ind., Holly Villhauer of Normal, Ill., John of Newport, Tenn., David of Cincinnati, Jean Parker of Seattle, Anne Bateman of Clifton Park, N.Y., Jon Miles of Burnt Hills, N.Y., Jennie Nesta of Gloucester, Mass., and Cynthia Miles-Louis of Glenville, N.Y.; a brother, John of Naperville, Ill.; and 18 grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Kays-Ponger/Royal Palm Funeral Home, Port Charlotte Chapel. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Christ the King Lutheran Church of Port Charlotte. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238; or to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Box E, 1275 York Ave., New York, NY 10021.
