Jan. 27, 1927 - June 8, 2009

Elinor W. Wyrtzen, 82, of Englewood died June 8, 2009.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Friday at Faith Lutheran Church in Rotonda West.
Survivors include husband Curtis; daughters Pam Sande of Gloucester, Mass., Lynne Sheridan of Cabot, Ark., and Kay McManus of Hingham, Mass.; sons Chris of Duxbury, Mass., and Chief Warrant Officer 4th Class Tim of Hopkinsville, Ky.; and sister Lois of Rocky Hill, Conn.
Elly is also survived by her two daughter-in-laws, Mary and Marybeth Wyrtzen; 11 grandchildren, Demian Purdy, Allegra McElroy, Denny Bayles, Scotty Bayles, Kristy Adcock, Jeffrey Wyrtzen, Ryan Wyrtzen, Brady Wyrtzen, Megan Wyrtzen, Steven McManus and Nicholas Wyrtzen; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sisters, Theodora Woy and Ruth Isbell.
Elly was born in Stamford, Conn., she was the daughter of the late Pastor Paul and Catherine Woy.
Elly and her husband, Curtis, celebrated 60 years of marriage on Feb. 5. She met her husband when they both attended Meriden High School in Meriden, Conn. They lived throughout the United States as Curtis served in the Air Force for 26 years and retired as a lieutenant colonel in 1970. They moved to Englewood in 1979.
Elly was an assistant librarian at L.A. Ainger Middle School for more than 10 years and continued to work there as a volunteer after her retirement. She was a parishioner at Faith Lutheran Church in Rotonda West.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to TideWell Hospice and Palliative Care, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238, or the Faith Lutheran Church, 551 Rotonda Blvd., Rotonda West, FL 33947.
