Marion Murphy Obituary
Oct. 9, 1932 - July 6, 2011
Marion "Fred" Murphy, of Sarasota, formerly of Baltimore, Md. passed away peacefully on July 6, 2011 after a long illness.
Fred was a prolific artist in a long career spanning over fifty years of painting and private teaching. He trained at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Schuler School of Fine Art in Baltimore, and was recognized for his mastery of the classic style of painting using the techniques of the Old Masters. His work hangs in galleries and in many private homes across the country.
He is survived by nieces and nephews and their families residing in the Baltimore area, and by a group of longtime friends residing in Sarasota.
No formal services will be held. In lieu of flowers, family and friends have requested that donations be made in his name to Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238, in gratitude for their caring and compassion during his final days.

Fred has finally found peace after enduring many months of his illness. He will be missed by all of his friends and art students.

May Fred rest in peace, I will miss him for his great gift of teaching to me for the past 8 years . He has opened up a window for me which I will always treasure .

My favorite days in Sarasota were always spent in Fred's class. He was my inspiration, always I looked up to him, as a person, a teacher and as a brilliant artist.
I shall miss you so much Fred and your cheery nature that always made me smile.
