Michael Joseph "Murf" Murphy

Michael Joseph "Murf" Murphy passed away on January 29, 2026, in Evansville, Indiana. Born on May 10, 1965, in Brooklyn, New York, Michael lived a life marked by craftsmanship, compassion, and living his life on his own terms.

A master carpenter by trade, Michael's skilled hands and creative vision left a lasting mark on projects across the country. His work included the iconic dance floor at the Wild Horse Saloon in Nashville, Tennessee; the immersive Wild Arctic Exhibit at SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida; and numerous home builds in Celebration, Florida. Each project bore his signature attention to detail and deep pride in his craft.

Before embarking on his civilian career, Michael served honorably as a Military Police officer in the United States Army, stationed in Germany.

Michael had a deep love for working with wood and found joy and peace in fishing. These hobbies were more than pastimes; they were expressions of his creativity and appreciation for nature's quiet beauty.

He was also known for his kindness toward animals and the elderly. A steadfast advocate for individuals with disabilities, Michael extended his compassion beyond words through action-always ready to lend a hand or stand up for those who needed support.

Michael is lovingly remembered by his sister Margaret A. Brent; brother James Murphy; sister Kathy O'Mallon; and brother Kevin Moran. He was preceded in death by his grandparents May and Joe Murphy.

Michael's legacy lives on through the structures he built and the lives he touched with his generosity and care. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
