Charles Bowles Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sunset Funeral Home, Cremation Center & Cemetery on Jan. 29, 2026.
Charles Patrick Bowles, known affectionately as Charlie to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026, in Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 64. Born on November 10, 1961, in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Charlie was a man of integrity, warmth, and an unquenchable zest for life.

Charlie's journey began as the cherished son of the late Frances and Tomoko Bowles. He grew up alongside his loving brother, Robert Bowles, and his dear sister, Janet, and her husband, Mike Mileham. The bonds of family were of utmost importance to Charlie, and this was reflected in the close relationships he maintained with his many nieces and nephews throughout his life.

After graduating from Carmi High School, Charlie pursued a career that would allow him to embrace his love for the open road. He attended Truck Driver School and dedicated 33 years of his life to a profession that suited his adventurous spirit. Charlie's time in the US Army further exemplified his commitment to service and his country, values he held in high regard.

Charlie's heart found its match in Shannon Bowles, the love of his life, to whom he was married for 33 years. Their love story was one for the ages, filled with shared passions and mutual respect. The couple's fondness for travel took them to many places, but none held more significance than Lexington, Virginia, where they spent their honeymoon and returned to often, creating a treasure trove of memories.

At home, Charlie found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He and Shannon relished their time together, whether it was dining out at their favorite restaurant, Tequila's, or enjoying the quiet companionship of their pet cat, BooBoo. Charlie's presence was a source of comfort and laughter, and his absence will leave a void in the hearts of those who knew him.

Charlie's legacy is one of love, loyalty, and the pursuit of happiness. He navigated life's highways with a steady hand and a kind heart, touching the lives of many along the way. As we bid farewell to Charles Patrick Bowles, we celebrate a life well-lived and a journey well-traveled. His spirit will continue to guide us, like a lighthouse for the soul, reminding us to cherish every moment and embrace the road ahead with hope and courage. Charlie will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever be etched in the hearts of his beloved wife, siblings, nieces, nephews, and the countless friends he made throughout his remarkable life.
