Judy Engel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sunset Funeral Home, Cremation Center & Cemetery on Feb. 9, 2026.
Judy Engel, a beacon of love and selflessness, left this world on February 6, 2026, at the age of 85, in Newburgh, Indiana, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering devotion to her family and community. Born on October 27, 1940, in Kentucky, Judy's life was a testament to the power of love and the strength of family bonds. She was the cherished daughter of the late Garland and Mildred Griffin, and a beloved sister to Shirley Wells and Kay Grimes.

Judy's journey through life was marked by her passionate involvement in the lives of her children, Debbie (Kevin) Williamson and David (Julie) Croft. Her love knew no bounds, and she poured her heart and soul into nurturing and guiding them. Judy's role as a grandmother to Amanda, Amy, and Colin was not merely a title but a calling. She was a constant presence at their school events, sporting matches, and every milestone, big or small. The joy of her life multiplied with the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Lillian, Kelsey, Katie, and Eddie, and later, the blessings of her great-great-grandchildren, Dominic and Legacy.

To describe Judy as loving is to acknowledge the warmth that radiated from her every action. Her passion for life was evident in the way she embraced each day with enthusiasm and grace. Judy's selflessness was her hallmark; she always put the needs of others before her own, and her generosity of spirit was felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

As we celebrate Judy's life, we are reminded of the indelible imprint she has left on this world. Her legacy is not merely in the family she adored but in the countless lives she touched with her kindness and compassion. Judy Engel's story is one of unwavering commitment to her loved ones and her belief in the enduring power of family.

Today, we honor Judy, not with a sense of loss but with a profound sense of gratitude. She showed us that the richest life is one filled with love and service to others. Judy's memory will continue to inspire and motivate us to live with the same passion and dedication that she exemplified every day. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate enough to experience her extraordinary love. Judy Engel's legacy is a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived, and she will be deeply missed but forever celebrated.
