Darrel E. Happel, 74, of Rhineland, MO, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at his home.
Darrel was born in Salem, MO on November 4, 1951, the son of the late Alva & Dorothy (Hawkins) Happel.
He was the husband of Phyllis (Randolph) Happel. They were united in marriage on August 18, 1979, in Salem, MO. They shared 46 years of marriage together.
Darrel was a diesel mechanic. In his free time, he loved to go fishing, hunting, camping and do woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Happel, of Rhineland, MO; two daughters, Sabrina Zimmer & husband Shawn, of Overland, MO; and Stephanie Kinnard & husband Randy, of Wright City, MO; a brother, Marvin Happel & wife Pat, of Salem, MO; a sister, Carol Hedrick & husband Ron, of Salem, MO; two sisters-in-law, GiGi Windau, of Foley, MO; and Dawn Harmon & husband Michael, of Columbia, MO; four grandchildren, Donovan, Madison, Parker and Ellie, two bonus grandchildren, Krystal Strubberg and Jozzy Dennis, both of Hermann, MO; and several nieces & nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barbara Berends.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 6th from 4 to 8 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann.
Memorial donation may be given to American Cancer Society.
