Edgar Gray Obituary

Edgar William Gray passed away early Thursday morning (Aug. 2, 2018) in the comfort of his own bed surrounded by his family. He was 71. Ed was the son of Elmer and Leona Gray (later Engemann). He grew up in Hermann, Missouri, and attended Hermann High School and the University of Missouri.
Memories of Ed and his love will forever shape the lives of his surviving wife, Bonny (Paneitz) Gray; his daughters, Amanda and Heather; and his grandchildren, Max and Leon; and all of those who were blessed to have known him.
Ed enjoyed sports all of his life, from basketball at Hermann High to golf in Florida where he and his wife retired 10 years ago.
He also took pride in being an active part of his church community. He began as a member of St. Paul's choir and ended as church president at Pass-a-Grille Beach Community Church in Florida.
During his working years, Ed managed pharmaceutical plants for Pfizer. His work led him to live and build friendships in six different states finishing at the company's headquarters in New York City. Some of his former colleagues are among his best friends to this day.
Ed served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He was stationed on Midway Island where he made lifelong friends that helped him celebrate every major birthday for the last 20 years.
Ed traveled the world with his family and friends. He visited 5 continents in his lifetime and in his final days took pleasure from remembering his family trips.
Family and friends are invited to please join us in a celebration of Ed's life at the Hermann VFW Hall on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, from 1-5 p.m.
Memorials may be sent to the Raise the Steeple Fund at Pass-a-Grille Beach Community Church U.C.C., 107 16th Ave. St. Pete Beach, Florida 33706.

I want to send my sincere condolences to Bonny and the rest of Ed's family. I worked with Ed at Pfizer Terre Haute and I always admired his obvious compassion for his colleagues and friends. Ed excelled in his career, but his true accomplishment in life was his love of family and friends. Rest in Peace, Ed!

Bonny, Heather, and Amanda,
We are so sorry for your loss. Paula could not have expressed it any better.

My heart and prayers go out to Bonny and family. The world has lost a great and compassionate man. Ed was a mentor to me in my early career with Pfizer in Valparaiso and again as we crossed paths in Terre Haute. He always had a fantastic smile and good advise for me. I am definitely a better person for having known him.

My favorite memory of him is the day of 9/11. He took time to calm all of his employees and kept it together himself while all the time wondering if one of his daughters was in one of the towers that had fallen. I never knew until later. He busied himself with taking care of others while keeping that question to himself.

I am sure he will continue to look out for others in his new home in heaven. Rest In Peace Ed.
