SPRING GLEN - Jerry Dolinski, age 73, passed away May 21, 2012, at Castleview Hospital in Price after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Sept. 24, 1938, in Libau, Manitoba, Canada, to Steve and Jean Gursky Dolinski.
On May 18, 1962, he married the love of his life, Deon Thomas, in Smithfield, Utah. Jerry always stated that she swept him off his feet because she was the best polka dancer, and he liked what he saw.
Jerry was a longtime resident of Carbon County who was employed as a mechanic at Braztah, Soldier Creek and Plateau coal mines. Jerry was highly respected in the mining industry, and he made many lasting friendships over the years. His passion was to be a mechanic, and anyone who knew Jerry knew he had a case of "tinkeritis." Some of his favorite hobbies were golfing with his sons-in-law, Rocky, David and Lou; his best friend, Ralph Dyett; and brother Mike. He also enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, bowling and working on cars. He loved sharing time with his family on Sundays and was always ready for a Wendover trip. Jerry was an avid subscriber to "Days of Our Lives," and he never missed an episode.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to everyone at Castleview Hospital and Dr. Shane Gagon for their expert care and service.
Jerry is survived by one son and three daughters, Randy (Tina) Dolinski, Helper, Deborah (David) Pilling, Price, Sherri Thorsen, Price, Dawna (Lou) Nickel, Goodyear, Ariz.; his faithful companion, Shadow; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sister, Florence (Harold) O'Sullivan; brothers, Mike (Myrna) Dolinski and Donald Dolinski; many loving nieces and nephews, all of Canada; his wonderful in-laws in Cache County, including Marie Archibald of Wellsville; close friends, Renate Nickel, Ralph and Dee Dyett, Rudy and Alma Rae Procarione, Bill and Judy Burton, Gene and Barbara Strate, Raymond and Valene Jones, Dean and Helen Garrett, Bud and Joan Pilling, and many other dear friends.
