ANNIE COPPINGER Obituary

Aug. 9, 1920 - April 25, 2010ANNIE RUTH TERRYCOPPINGER, 89, passed to heaven on April 25, 2010, preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herbert W. Coppinger. She was born in Fairfield, Texas August 9, 1920 to Paul Terry and Susan Pittman Terry. She came to Houston in 1938 after her graduation from Fairfield High School. She was the administrative assistant to the President of Houston Natural Gas for many years. She was a member of Westbury Baptist Church, the Ruth Bible Class and the auxiliary of The Gideons International.Ruth dearly loved her family and never missed a family gathering, where she could always be counted on to bring her wonderful coconut or red velvet cake. Her love of beautiful fabrics led her to a life of sewing, and she made lovely clothes through the years for herself and many others. She was a practical, strong, kind and gentle person. She always said that she wanted to live a productive life and never be a burden to anyone, and she accomplished both goals as Ruth still lived independently and was driving until the day she became ill two weeks before her death. For over twenty years, George and Helen Linton were faithful friends and helpers in many matters concerning her.She is survived by her two sisters: Margaret Terry Sledge Haverfield and Rebecca Louise Terry Robbins; her nieces Jill Price Wagner and Kathryn Terry Smith; her nephews Roland Sledge, Jr., Clovis Price, Jr., and Mark Terry; her first cousins Wayne Pittman, Lloyd Pittman and Edward Pittman; sister-in-law Frances Terry; and numerous great nieces and nephews.Visitation will be Wednesday April 28, 2010 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Forest Park Lawndale. The service for her will be held at Forest Park Lawndale at 10:00 am Thursday, April 29, 2010 with internment immediately following.
