Laverne Webster Obituary
LAVERNE SCHLICKEISEN WEBSTER, 86, passed from this life to eternal life everlasting on Wednesday, January 17, 2007. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, George R. Webster, Sr. As a devoted wife and mother she took great pride in being a full-time homemaker. Mrs. Webster was born in Taylor, Texas on October 21, 1920. After graduation from Houston's Jeff Davis High School in 1936 she traveled extensively throughout the United States before returning to Houston. The following years saw the beginning of a life-long struggle to cope with the effects of a serious head injury sustained in an automobile accident. Married to George on October 6, 1944, LaVerne was a devout Christian and a longtime member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Houston. She is survived by her sons George Webster, Jr. and his wife Maria, Michael Webster, John Webster and his wife Heather, and daughter Sallie Kinard and her husband Robert, along with grandsons Taylor Kinard, Lucas Kinard, Nathaniel Webster, and Evan Webster. She is also survived by her sisters Leola Chase and Lillian Evans and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend their sincerest appreciation to the Reverend Eugene Heckmann and the Reverend John Cain for their spiritual support along with the doctors, nurses, and staff at Park Plaza Hospital with special heartfelt thanks to her longtime caregivers Erma Alford, Annie Brown, Clara Turner, Shirley Morgan, and Argerine Banks for their companionship, compassion, and the gentle care given to LaVerne in the last years of her life. Pallbearers are Rush Evans, Joe Scott Evans, John Reynolds, Rush Evans III, Taylor Kinard, and Lucas Kinard. Honorary pallbearers are Nathaniel Webster and Evan Webster. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, January 21, 2007 in the chapel at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery located at 13102 North Freeway, Houston, Texas. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 22, 2007 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church located at 4040 Watonga, Houston, Texas. Interment will follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.
