It is my prayer that God will calm every fear, soothe all dounts and fears. That he will comfort every heartache and pain. Although this time is not easy, I pray that you all will be fully surrounded by God's peace, love and joy so that you may face each day knowing that our sister in Heaven has fulfilled her purpose that God ordained for her life. We will never forget the heavenly flavored recipes cooked up to fill our bellies and the joy her places of business allowed our families to come together for just a night of fun and relaxation away from work, stress and the struggles of life. We thank God for all of you that took part and it is my prayer that God will allow you all the strength to carry the torch that Sis. Vernell has passed onto you all. May God bless and keep all of you.

I just wanted to say how much I will miss Vernell. I met Vernell about 3 yrs ago when I called about the Dominoe Tournament on Tues night. She was so friendly towards me that I kept on coming to play dominoes on tuesdays. She then told me that since I liked to play so much that I should come during the week. That began my love affair with Vernell's Sports Bar and Dominoes. When I hurt myself, Vernell told me to come on in anyway on my crutches and she wouldn't let anyone bother me. I did and there was nothing Vernell wouldn't ask me to do for her and I would do it. Words cannot express how much I will miss her. To the love of her life: Joe, her daughters, and grandchildren...you are in my prayers.... Vernell will be greatly missed. I know that she is in heaven playing dominoes and arranging zydeco gigs... I don't know where I will go now to play dominoes and bid whist... a part of me is missing.....Vernell - I'll miss you so much. Ruthie

Even though we never met Ms. V personally, the Houston County Trailriders visited her place in February of 2007 and the plan was to visit again in February 2008 because of the fun that we had. Jammim J always had great things to say about Ms. V so he begged us to come out. The visit was really an experience and the Steaks were awesome. We the Houston County Trailriders say to the family, hold your head up high because your mother is a true Legend. May God be with you all!!

My prayers are with you and your family. I did not know Ms. Vernell personally but I woud hear so much about her on KCOH when she would call in to talk to Don Sam about all of the different events going on at Vernells' from dominoes, cards, to pool tournaments and steak night. I always said after hearing her talk about these evenst that I would love to stop by and join in on all of the fun. I pray the sports stays open so that I can get a change to participate. She loved what she did and from my understanding from the many patrons of her establishment, she knew how to have a good time. Now she is having a good time playing cards, dominoes and pool in heaven. Be Blessed in the Lord and know his eye is on the sparrow and he is watching over her.

To the family a loved one never really leaves us, they lessons they have taught us carry us doing the freshness of the loss. Memories and lessons taught by them carry us after the loss. Your mother will be there in your hearts forever. So stay strong and be there for each other. I knew your mother a longtime and she always treated me well, therefore I know the loved she shared for others started at home. Find peace with each other and within your hearts in the future.
