James Brock Obituary

James Hilliard (Jim) Brock, Jr.
1938-2021
James Hilliard Brock, Jr., (Jim) passed away on January 19, 2021 in Katy, Texas.
Jim moved to Houston when he began playing baseball at Rice University. He was a lifelong member of the Houston Lifestock Show and Rodeo and served on many committees with his wife. They were also members of St. Peter's United Methodist Church in Katy, where they volunteered a lot of their time. He volunteered at Westbury High School where he met Ricky Watkins and they went on to establish a lasting friendship and created the Houston Athletics select baseball organization. Jim was a wonderful father, grandfather, husband and a mentor to many.
Jim married Diana Goedrich Brock in 1988 and had a loving marriage of 33 years. He is survived by his wife Diana, daughter Lori Brock of Houston, stepson Jarod Baccus and his wife Joy Baccus of Irving, Texas, grandson Marshall Laguarta of Houston and Ross Laguarta of Dallas. Jim has a sister, Mary Elizabeth Byrd, in Greensboro, North Carolina, a niece Kyley Byrd in Ashville, North Carolina, nephew Brandon Byrd in Ashville North Carolina, a great niece Marley Ferris, in Ashville, North Carolina.
Memorial contributions, if desired, can be made in memory to Rice University baseball program, Houston Athletics Baseball Organization, or St. Peters United Methodist Church.
The family will have a private ceremony in his honor.
