Ann Jackson Obituary

Ann Willard Jackson
1934-2021
Ann Rice Willard Jackson passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on May 24, 2021. She was born on June 14, 1934 in New Haven, Connecticut.
Preceded in death by her parents Earle Ellsworth Willard and Isabel Edith Rice Willard, her husband John Franklin Jackson and son Charles Benjamin Jackson, and her sister Eleanor Cannon. She is survived by daughter Connie Jackson Hope, son-in-law David Hope, their children Stacy and her husband Jeremy Shelby and Shawn Hope, their grandchildren Lindsey Shelby and husband Codey Williams, Abby Ann Shelby, and great-grandson Caden Williams, as well as her son William John Jackson, daughter-in-law Nita Vandiver Jackson, granddaughter Katie Jackson Carlin and husband Brody Carlin, and great grandson Connor William Carlin.
Ann was a co- founder of the First Congregational Church in Houston, and was active in her family's later church community, serving as leader of her Presbyterian Women's circle, among other roles.
She was very active in her community, serving as an election judge and poll worker for many years, and was one of the early organizers of the Republican Party in Harris County, as well as an original member of the Magic Circle Republican Women of Houston.
She worked side by side with her son Bill in his businesses for over forty years.
Ann loved to travel, going on cruises with her children and spending time at family properties with them in Sharpsville, PA.
She was ahead of her time, an independent and determined woman who thought it was very important to fulfill her obligations as a citizen of the United States and be active in the process of democracy. She will be deeply, sorely missed by her family and many friends.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 29, 2021, in the chapel at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, 11612 Memorial Drive, in Houston, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.

I am so sorry to hear about Ann's passing. We were political counterparts as precinct chairs/judges. Though our opinions differed, we enjoyed a harmonious friendship with lots of giggles. I admired her tenacity and energy!

Rest in the arms of Jesus, Ann. You are missed in our neighborhood by many of your neighbors. I miss seeing you and Lizzie as I walk my dogs. I will see you again one day soon. Love and prayers to your family. Love Evelyn
