John connected from his heart to another's. While he possessed a great understanding and appreciation for the aesthetic externals, he was not bound by the superficial or impressed by the trappings. He had extraordinary charisma and a truly joyful common touch. I think he would have loved the gospel music at the service, and I know there will be far fewer egg yolks discarded at "59"...There are so many of us who will miss him.

My time knowing John was short, but was meaningful. Through my interaction with him, I realized that he was a pillar in the community. John's memory will be carried on by the many who care deeply for him.
