Glen Riesterer Obituary

Riesterer, Glen E.

Glen E. Riesterer, 56, of rural Kiel died Saturday morning, January 2, 2016. He was born in Manitowoc on June 15, 1959, son of the late Francis "Shorty" and Juanita (Koenig) Riesterer. Glen attended local grade schools and was a graduate of the Kiel High School class of 1977. Glen furthered his education independently and through numerous continuing education courses.

On October 6, 1979 he was united in marriage to Renae Prange at Trinity Lutheran Church in Howards Grove. Glen and Renae owned and operated the Pizza Factory in Howards Grove before Glen became a regional sales manager for Waukesha Wholesale Foods. He began his career in insurance in 1993 as an agent with Lutheran Brotherhood. In 2002, he founded Riesterer Financial Services as an independent insurance agent. Glen was recognized as a Million Dollar Round Table member for many years, was the Vice Chairman of the Board for Packerland Brockerage Services and because of Glen's leadership and the hard work of his agents and entire staff, Riesterer Financial has been the top producing office for Packerland Brokerage for many years. Those who worked with Glen were like family to him. The agents and staff shared many memorable times and professional accomplishments. Glen built a reputation for putting his clients' needs first. He took pride in educating his clients and giving them sound, honest financial advice.

Glen was the co-founder of the Kiel Sleigh Bell Run and served as chairperson for 20 years. He was the Kiel High School Assistant Cross Country Coach from 1992 until 2006 and continued to volunteer and support the team whenever possible. Glen took great pride in mentoring young runners and developed many friendships that lasted long after the students graduated. His dedication to the community also carried over to his church family. As a member of Zion Lutheran Church, New Holstein, he served on the Board of Education, was a member of the Men's Tuesday morning Bible study group and hosted the Thursday morning Bible study group at his home. Glen and Renae had a long standing tradition of putting together and handing out treat bags to all the kids at the annual Christmas Children's Service.

Glen loved to travel with family and friends. He enjoyed planning group car ride trips, motorcycle adventures and snowmobiling. He especially loved hunting with his nephews and his morning walks with his little buddy, Max.

Survivors include his wife, Renae, his daughters; Jessica Riesterer, Portland, OR and Abby (Carl) Allen, Minneapolis, MN. He is further survived by his brother; Mark (Lindy) Riesterer, his sister; Lynn Riesterer, brothers-in-law; Jeffry Woelfel, Randy (Denise) Prange, mother-in-law; Evelyn Prange, along with aunts, uncles, cousins, his very special nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister; Lori Woelfel

Funeral Services for Glen will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church (1702 Vanburen St. New Holstein) with Pastor Azor Cigelske officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from 3:00pm until 7:00pm and on Thursday at the church from 9:00am until 10:45am when we will have brief family rites prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Eaton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Glen's name.

Glen's family would like to express their gratitude to the St. Nazianz and Valders EMT's and First Responders. A very special thank you to Mark P. Riesterer for all his help.
