Mildred Hollard
POCATELLO - Mildred M. Hollard, 98, former Colorado resident, passed away Monday evening, May 28, 2012, at a local health care facility.
Mildred was born on July 28, 1913. She was one of four children born to George S. and Ruth Adele Yates (all deceased). She grew up in Denver, attended schools there, and graduated from North High School. Mildred was a member of a Camp Fire Girls group that stayed together for over 70 years.
Mildred married Lewis Hollard on September 24, 1932. They were married 69 years. They had two daughters, Barbara and Judith.
Lewie's career was in the Army Air Force, which took the family to many places. Wherever they lived they formed lifelong friendships. They were active members of the United Methodist Church.
Mildred and Lewie were very involved with the extended family, and had a positive influence on everyone. They would host a family reunion annually with children and grandchildren, as well as have get-togethers at holiday time.
Mildred came to Pocatello after Lewie passed away and lived for 10 years at Quail Ridge. She enriched our lives with her sunny and positive disposition. She will be sorely missed.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Lees (James), and husband Lewis Hollard. Survivors include: daughter Barbara Jackson and husband Allen; six grandchildren: Cary Jackson (Ruth), Deborah Jackson, Edward Jackson (Julie), Fredrick Jackson, Jennifer Nixon (David), Jay Lees (Gretchen); 12 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Mildred's life will be held on Saturday, June 16th, at 4 p.m. in the Chapel of the First United Methodist Church, corner of 15th and Clark, with Allen Jackson officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:30 p.m. until service time in the Church. A light supper for family and friends will be held at Barbara and Allen Jackson's home following the service.
The family wishes to express deep gratitude to Dr. Lavonne Mills, the whole staff at Quail Ridge, and to Alliance Home Health and Hospice for their loving care of Mildred. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mildred's memory to the United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or to a
charity of your choice.
