As the Senior Board Member of the American Association of Navy Hospital Corpsmen, I want to send my sincere condolences to you and your family. The words of his fellow Corpsmen and Marines speak powerfully for what a fine young man he was and we are all the lesser for his passing. I feel particularly sad because we both live in Boise and I wish I could have done something to prevent his loss. My thoughts are with you at this time. Steven F. Scanlin, Chief Hospital Corpsman (Honorary), USNR (Former).

Wish we could've talked more, it was good to talk to you while I had the chance. Was hoping to see you again someday when I take a road trip out there. I wish you would've reached out to me, I wish I could've talked to you before this maybe I could've helped. I'll miss you man.

My deepest condolences to your family. I remember Sean fondly from high school theater. He was always so nice and entertaining. I'm proud of his service to our country. May your family find peace among this difficult time. Thank you for bringing mental health and the importance of it to light and trying to help others that may be in the same position.

Your son was an excellent Corpsmen. I hope that you can take pride and embrace during this time knowing that he had a great impact on many of us in the Marine Corps. My deepest condolences for your loss. Semper Fidelis Doc! - Corporal Bagwell, USMC.
In 2013, I returned from my first and only combat deployment in Afghanistan. In the Marine Corps, we have the greatest Corpsmen who watch out for us.. but they always come with a little dose of crazy, almost mad scientest like. Nonetheless! Corpsmen are a different breed. It takes a little crazy to fall in line with Marines. We had already a Corpsmen like this, Doc Steinhardt. I didn't think the Navy could actually send us someone with more crazy in their blood than him, but naturally they have to one up themselves and they send us Doc Sullivan..First Gunnery back stateside and I'm walking to my tank. I notice this fresh faced kid, brand new Corpsmen with our company. I don't say this lightly, when I first met Doc Sully, you just knew he fit perfect as a Corpsmen for Delta Company. Smart Doc, always willing learn, following Steinhardt around, always trying to learn from him! Doc Sullivan had his quirks; it was that small dose of crazy beaming out of him, almost like it was saying, "Look at me Marines! I can be just as bloodthirsty and wild as you." Sully was a professional in his craft and never shirked away from duties at hand. I'll never forget the Corpsmen that took care of the Marines of Delta company. One of the first things Sullivan ever said to me was, "You think I can shoot one of those tanks someday?" I told him to pick up his pen and notebook and go take some vitals. His response, without hesitation, "If you ever spontaneously combust out here, I'm gonna throw more gasoline on you." There couldn't be a more perfect response. Sully fit like a glove in Delta. Where the brave may live forever, Valhalla greets you.

I went to high school without Sean and we shared many friends. He always made me laugh. It hurts my heart to hear about his tragic death. He was very smart, clever, brave, and friendly. He had a way of making everyone feel like his friend. I remember going to parties where I didn't know many people, but he always made me feel included and comfortable. I don't think I ever had a conversation with him where he didn't end up making me laugh. I remember him doing a skit class and I laughed until I cried and my sides hurt. I remember the way he walked and the way he smiled at everyone and would talk to even complete strangers like he had known them for years. I'm so sorry to hear about this. I will never forget him. I know the suffering of depression too well and I will think of him often for the rest of my life. He will be remembered for all the remarkable things he was. He was truly one of a kind.

Our sincere condolences to your family. Our son graduated with Sean and also served in the Marine Corps in San Diego. He is out now, and coming home for Sean's funeral. We'll share a funny story with you on how Sean helped him out one late night in San Diego...
I cannot imagine what you are going through and our prayers are for your family and for Sean.
God Bless You,
