Pasquale Amore Obituary

Pasquale (Patrick) Joseph Amore

Indianapolis - Jan. 16, 1932 - Apr. 10, 2020

Pasquale (Patrick) Joseph Amore, 88 years old, of Indianapolis passed from this world on Good Friday, April 10, 2020 at 11:00 pm at Community North Hospital. He was a resident of The Forum at the Crossing.

He was preceded in death by his son, Angelo Amore; his mother and father, Pasqualina Lattanza and Angelo Amore; and his brother, Anthony Lorenzano.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Ann (Agresta) Amore of Indianapolis; son Chris (wife Kathy) Amore of Indianapolis, Sam (wife Kathy) Amore of Columbus, Ohio, Mario Amore of Marco Island, Florida, Gina (husband Chris) Miller of Union, Kentucky, Patrick Jr. (wife Christine) Amore of Carmel; 11 grandchildren, Nicole (husband Jesse Mindel), Lindsay, Megan (husband Josh Gropp), Michael (wife Michelle), John (wife Darby), Anthony, Erika, Andrew, Nicholas, Lexi and Anna; 4 great-grandchildren, Conner, Eli, Brynlee, and Avery Gropp; and daughter-in-law Sally Amore; and sister-in-law Maria Lorenzano, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School class of 1950, where he was a member of the football and wrestling teams. He was an All-State Wrestler and attended Purdue University on a wrestling scholarship. He was drafted into the US Army during the Korean War and spent 2 years in Germany. Pat spent his early career as a co-owner with his brother of Shorty's Fairway Market for 18 years. He worked for General Motors (Allison) for 19 years. He was co-owner, with his wife, of Sunrise Golf Course in Carmel, Indiana for 25 years. He retired in October of 2013. He was a member of St. Pius X Parish, Knights of Columbus, and American Legion. He enjoyed playing golf with family and friends, engaging in a good craps game, spending time with his grandchildren, and relaxing and sunning at his Naples' home.

Pat had a contagious laugh and a zest for life. You would see him with a spring in his step and a song in his heart often singing, humming or whistling to whatever he was doing. He loved to dance, especially the jitterbug, up until he had heart issues in his late 70's. He was a fighter, battling cancer for 18 years, and fought COVID-19 to the bitter end. He always had a big smile and kind words for those around him. He was a devout Catholic who prayed daily to the Blessed Mother.

His loving family will hold a virtual Catholic Mass on Tuesday, April 21st at 11:00 am (please go to www.spxparish.org and follow directions to the service on that day). A burial at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery will be held later this summer with details to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking to donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Little Sisters of the Poor. Thank you to those who touched his life. His family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff who tirelessly cared for him during his most trying time. We look forward to sharing memories of Pat in the future.

Pat (Shortly) was always kind hearted. He loved life and lived life to its fullest extent. Pat and Mary Ann as well as the Amore family of which I knew most of them, were and still are some of the fondest memories that I have. I loved playing golf at Sunrise golf course. I had even more enjoyment talking to Pat and the rest of the family. Rest In Peace Pat. I miss you and your infectious laugh. Your are missed. Godspeed.
