AMY LESSACK Obituary

LESSACK AMY E. It is with tremendous sadness and grief that we announce the death of Amy Lessack of Blue Bell, Pa, who passed on February 20, 2021, after a long battle with breast cancer at the age of 55. Amy was a graduate of Upper Dublin High School and Penn State University, where she earned both undergraduate and masters degrees. Her 30-year career was spent in the financial and health care sectors, during which she was a Vice President at First Union and a Senior Vice President at Wells Fargo. Most recently, at AmerisourceBergen, she was a Director in its corporate university. Throughout her life, Amy was a passionate advocate, serving on the boards of Living Beyond Breast Cancer (LBBC) and YMCA Camp Tockwogh. She was proud of the mission of LBBC and the assistance it provided. She was, however, happiest at Camp Tockwogh. She looked forward to attending its family camp every August so that she could spend time with her fabulous friends — playing tennis, waterskiing and hanging out at the Tiki, laughing and telling stories along the way. Diagnosed with breast cancer at 36, Amy fought an inspiring 19-year battle while supporting — and finding support in — others refusing to be defined by the disease. Regardless of the obstacle, she fought with grace and dignity, even in her final moments. Not once did she bemoan the diagnosis; instead, it inspired her to live life to its fullest. Amy was predeceased by her beloved father, Jordan Lessack. She is survived by her mother, Arlene Lessack, and her sister, Abby Lessack (Michael Grendzynski). Amy also leaves behind many loving relatives and devoted friends, whom she cherished. The family is grateful for their unwavering support over the years. We feel lucky to have had Amy in our lives, and only wish we had more time with her. May her memory be a blessing. We will miss her dearly. Due to restrictions relating to COVID-19, in-person attendance at a gravesite ceremony is by invitation only. Family will provide access to video conferencing for the ceremony. I first met and worked with Amy back in the First Union days. She made such a lasting impression on me in a short time. I immediately admired the way she lit up a room, brought laughter to those around her and showed us all how to live life to the fullest. Praying her family feels peace knowing Amy was touched and loved by so many.

Amy was my manager at First Union/Wachovia in Charlotte, NC. She was a great role model, mentor, and friend. She was always so positive, kind, and caring. We have not seen each other in years. We reconnected via Facebook. Also, we stayed in touch with the exchange of holiday cards each year with quick notes inside them.

I am praying for strength, comfort, and peace for her family and friends. May precious memories of Amy comfort you now and always.

Love,
Cindy Batson Robinson

Amy and I worked together at PNC. She was young and fun loving. On Fridays she would leave work and head to family camp. You would have thought she was one of the campers with her level of excitement. I would hear about her loving parents Arlene and Jay all the time. I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of Amy to so many who loved her. She would light up any room she entered. I ran into her at a conference a few years ago and we agreed to get together for lunch. Unfortunately, we didn’t make that happen. My condolences to Arlene and Abby for your loss. May your pain be lessened by the many happy memories you had with her. I’m sure that she would want you to find the smile and feeling that she exuded whenever she’d see you. Arlene, thank you for raising such a wonderful woman. I feel fortunate to have known her. I had the joy and pleasure of meeting Amy in Pittsburgh, working for PNC. We had many fun times that continued when we both relocated south to work for First Union. Great times in Charlotte, NC! Amy's laugh was infectious and she will always be a bright spot in my life as I am blessed to have known and loved her.

From the first day I became very close friends with Amy I knew I was going to be in for something special. I meet my wife because of Amy. We always talked and tried to make a ice cream date at Merrymeed Farms but she was always busy with something it did not make a difference just to knowing her was all I needed. She was the big sister I never had. I will miss her and our talks.

Sending love and prayers for Amy’s family. I worked with her at First Union and Wachovia. We were part of the merger team which was a most challenging and rewarding time. Amy was a great leader and her smile made everyday better. We celebrate her wonderful well lived life.

I knew Amy from Camp Tockwogh's Family Camp years ago and stayed in touch, mostly through Facebook. When I look at all at the beautiful photos of Amy posted there I am reminded of what a vibrant active life she lived! Sadly she left this world far too soon. A bright light has gone out... This is how I will always remember my dear Friend Amy:
Bright! in spirit and mind.
Fearless! this picture was the night she told us she was the 4th person on a clinical trial drug.
Laughter and Joy! She could always find the humor in almost everything. Curious! she was always learning. she was interested in so many things. You had real conversations with Amy.
Fun! She went to summer camp every summer and played! So loved this.
World Traveler! Lived her life full out.
Love! She loved her family and her friends immensely
This is her gift to us. A recipe for a life well lived -even with the knowledge that $&&!$#! Cancer would take her from us well before she was ready to go.
