DEANNA JERGE Obituary

DEANNA GENE JERGE

Oct. 21, 1944 – Feb. 15, 2025

Deanna Gene Jerge, 80, passed away peacefully in her home on February 15, 2025. She was born on October 21, 1944, in Clifton, AZ. She met Michael Jerge while attending Eastern Arizona College, Thatcher, AZ and married in 1965. In 1967, they moved to Brawley where Michael was employed as a professor at Imperial Valley College. Deanna was an avid horse rider competing in shows throughout the western United States. She enjoyed returning each summer to Stephens College, Steamboat Springs, CO, where she continued her equine and horsemanship studies. After retiring from riding due to a back injury at the age of 38, she became a full time horse back riding instructor. In 1995, Michael and Deanna moved to the country and opened her own boarding facility, where she spent the next 15 years teaching others to ride and appreciate the love of animals.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael John Jerge, and her parents, Wilmer and Lila King. She is survived by her brother, John King (Linda); sister, Nancy Losik (Stephen); children, Clay Jerge and Rebecca Poloni (Daniel); grandchildren, Keeley Poloni, Daniel Poloni, Jr., Chad Travioli (Karina), and Sarah Travioli (Mike); and several nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.

A luncheon in remembrance of her life will be hosted at the Stockmen's Club at 11:30 a.m. on June 2, 2025, in Brawley.

The family requests donations be made in her name to the Imperial County Humane Society in lieu of flowers.
