JACOB KAPPELER Obituary
Mar. 17, 1940 – Apr. 12, 2025
Jacob Kappeler, longtime Brawley farmer and award winning sausage maker, passed away in Escondido, CA.
A strong believer in making the most of every day, Jacob loved traveling around the world, learning about different cultures, and meeting new people. Both before he settled in the Imperial Valley and then with his family and friends, he traveled often to domestic and international locales around the globe. His love for community and camaraderie showed in his active memberships in organizations such as the California Association of Meat Processors, President; Trinity Lutheran Church of Brawley; Business Builders Network in San Marcos; San Diego Vintners Association and Imperial Valley Swiss Club, President. More than anything, Jacob loved his family and friends and never turned down an opportunity to reconnect over a beer or a glass of wine to share stories and encourage others.
He is survived by his wife, Sue; his daughter Tabitha and son-in-law, Rushton, his daughter, Heidi and grand-daughter, Caitlynn; and many nieces, nephews, and god children in the United States and in Switzerland. He was much loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Jacob's life will be celebrated at a celebration of life in June. Please contact family members for event details. In lieu of flowers, feel free to donate to the San Diego Blind Center in Vista, where Jacob spent many happy hours learning how to maintain his independence even as his sight failed. In order for the donation to stay at the Vista site, please put "for Vista Center" in the memo line and mail it to 1385 Bonair Drive, Vista, CA 92084.
