What is a wonderful man Roger was. It doesn't seem possible he had been gone from us for 8 years
His legacy reaches much further than being a Purdue basketball player and representing Purdue in his profession.
Roger has such a big heart and reached out to people who were broken hearted and seemed to have it hard to make ends meet.
We miss you Roger but your legacy lives on.

To Chris, Roger's wife, daughter and the rest of his family - we are so sorry for your lost. Roger was a great person and mentor to Purdue students. My husband and I had many opportunities throughout the years to work and interact with Roger while serving on Purdue's College of Pharmacy Minority Advocacy Council. Shortly after we met Roger and I figured out that I went to high school with his brother Chris so he would always share how Chris was doing. May our Heavenly Father continue to comfort and strengthen you all during this time.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Roger's family. May the Lord watch over them, bless them and guide them during this sudden and difficult loss. As the HR Specialist to Athletics, you just could not help but liking Roger and enjoy working with him. He was truely a very special person, whose smile would light-up a room. He had a special way of making you feel good about yourself despite any challenges you might be facing. He always took the time to listen. Professional in his work ethic in every respect. Roger had a way of touching your heart. He will be missed!

I was so shocked to see Roger had passed away. While a student at Purdue I worked for him in the athletic department. He was such a kind, gentle man. I work at Hippensteel and I had seen him come in for a few visitations and spoke with him and not that long ago I saw him at the grocery store. So sad he didn't get to enjoy his retirement. God has a true gentleman in heaven with him now! God bless the Blalock family.

I was saddened to hear of Roger's passing and immediately thought, "He's too young to be gone." As a student at Purdue, I remember him as always smiling and being a source of encouragement to students. I also remember him as a doting father to Erin. He will be missed. May those left behind remember how he lived his life and continue (or adopt) the best lessons he taught.

Mr. Blalock picked up children from our school in the Hanna van. Each day, he got out of the van, spoke to each child, opened the door for them, and made sure they were properly in their seats. Each day, he also told them that he was picking up his "favorite people." I wish I would have known him better!! He certainly made his Hanna kids feel special!!

Erin, when you called Monday I was in disbelief and I still am. He was an amazing father that adored you and our big older pretend brother that we loved. It's hard to look back and remember that he was by our side when we lost our dad in January. He was so helpful through our very difficult time and we want you to know we're here for you, JB and the family during this time. His laugh, smile and words of encouragement will be missed. My family and I were truly blessed and fortunate to have known Roger and lucky to have been a part of his life. Hang on to all those memories and his love for you. God Bless you and the family.

Roger was so special to me. He was gentle, loving, caring and kind. It is so difficult to accept that he is gone but we know that even though we feel he is gone too soon, he accomplished so much in his 65 years. He touched so many lives and directed the lives of so many young people. Mentor, father figure to so many. God called him to come and be rewarded for all the wonderful things that he had done.
