Theodore Filson Obituary
Theodore "Ted" W. Filson, 85, of Rensselaer passed away at his home March 8, 2012. Ted was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 11, 1926, the son of Thomas Filson and Florence (Johnson) Filson. Ted lived in Kniman and was a 1945 graduate of Wheatfield High School. In 1958 he moved to Rensselaer.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, Ted served in the Philippines during World War II. Ted was a member of the V.F.W. Post #1279, American Legion Post #29, the Lions Club and the Kniman United Methodist Church.
Ted began the Rensselaer Cable TV Company in 1964, and has continued as the owner since its inception. He was owner of the former Filson Electric and was an electrician for 40 years.
On September 3, 1948, in Crown Point, Indiana Ted married Charlotte Glenna Current who survives.
Surviving with his wife Charlotte, are six children, Larry Filson of Deltona, Florida, Steve (wife Susan) Filson of Monon, Cheryl (husband Kevin) Armstrong of Rensselaer, Michael Filson of Floral, Arkansas, Ron (wife Michelle) Filson of Rensselaer and Mary (Donald Largent, Fiancé) Stranger of Crawfordsville; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren and two sisters, Roberta Welther, Carrollton, TX and Evelyn (Lincoln) Metcalfe, LaGrange Park, IL.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Alice, one sister and one daughter-in-law.
Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, March 11, 2012 from 2-8 p.m. at the Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, March 12, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer with Rev. Dave Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Weston Cemetery, Rensselaer. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Filson family. I am very thankful for having the opportunity to care for Ted over the past 9 months. He was blessed to have all the love,care,and support of so many family and friends. I am truly blessed to have met his children and feel the amount of love given every day I was n their home. May God Bless all of u.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Filson family during this diffucult time. I had the opportunity to care for Ted during his last months and he will truly be missed. God Bless you Ted on your eternal journey. Rest in Peace.
