Robert Markley Obituary
Attica - Robert I. Markley, 78, rural Attica, passed away at his home on Saturday, October 12, 2013, at 5:20 p.m. following an illness of the past three years.
Robert was born in Warren County, Indiana, on November 10, 1934. He was the son of the late William H. Markley and Pauline (Perkins) Markley Hoskins. Robert grew up in the Pence area of Warren County and graduated from Williamsport High School in 1954. Robert has resided in Warren County all of his life and at his present address for the past 59 years.
Robert formerly worked at C & D Battery Company in Attica for 41 years. He retired in 1997. Robert's first love was farming and farmed in Warren Township for many years.
Robert was a member of the Riverview United Methodist Church in Independence. He was a 50-year member of the Pine Village Lodge #315 F.&A.M. He enjoyed collecting toy tractors and especially enjoyed time with his family and grandchildren.
On June 20, 1954, Robert married Shirley A. Frasch in the Riverview United Methodist Church in Independence.
Robert leaves behind his wife of 59 years; his son, James (Kimberley) Markley, Attica; a daughter, Tracey (companion-Dwayne Burton) Markley, Attica; a sister, Joan (Raymond) Taylor, Attica; four grandchildren, Zachery Markley, Caleb (Chrissy) Markley, Eli (companion-Becky Butz) Markley and Josie (Matt) Bowers; a great-grandson, Lucas James Bowers. Robert was preceded in death by a son, Steven Markley, and a brother, William Markley, Jr.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Tuesday, October 15th, from 4:00-8:00 p.m with a Masonic service being conducted at 8:00 p.m. by the Pine Village Lodge # 315 F.& A.M. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, Oct. 16th, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Daniel Jordan officiating. Burial will follow in the Boswell Cemetery, Boswell, IN.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Warren County Community Foundation "Mac Van" or the American Lung Association.
