Idell (Mitchell) Ellingwood, 95

Idell (Mitchell) Ellingwood, 95, Wallace, passed away at her home surrounded by her family, on Saturday, February 14, 2015, at 6:52 p.m.

Idell was born in Crawfordsville, Indiana, on January 8, 1920. She was the daughter of the late Claude T. and Jewel (Clore) Mitchell. Idell was a life resident of the Wallace community and had attended Wallace School.

Idell was a homemaker and artist. She was a former member of the Danville, Illinois Art League. She was a member of the Wallace Christian Church. Idell was an accomplished artist. She had her paintings displayed in all 50 states and 3 continents. She was a person who could accomplish anything once she set her mind. She was a great cook and had a kind and gentle nature to her personality.

On December 24, 1936, Idell married Harry Eugene "Gene" Ellingwood, Jr. In the Phanuel Lutheran Parsonage, near Wallace. He preceded her in death on January 1, 2001.

Idell leaves behind her five children, Nick (Thelma) Ellingwood, Terry (Darla) Ellingwood and Jim (Charol) Ellingwood, all of Wallace; Ann (Stephen) Ratcliff, Lafayette and Jeff (Elizabeth) Ellingwood, Wrightwood, CA; a sister, Geneva Ellingwood, Illinois; 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 13 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, three brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Hillsboro, on Tuesday, Feb. 17th from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Services will be held in the Wallace Christian Church, Wallace, IN, on Wednesday, Feb. 18th at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ryan Sowers officiating. Burial will follow in the Wallace Lutheran Cemetery, east of Wallace. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Amber Powers Sparks Scholarship Fund or the Wallace Christian Church. Condolences may be sent on line to www.mausfuneralhome.com.
