Jared Kavinsky Obituary

Kavinsky, Jared Lee April 17, 1992 - October 24, 2013 Jared was a loving, upbeat, fun-filled person who enjoyed life to its fullest and brought happiness to the people around him. He was an athlete and musician with a brilliant mind. Jared graduated from Arrowhead High School in 2010. In addition to participating in many activities, Jared's many accomplishments included: graduating with a 4.0 grade average; won 1st place in the WI State Chess Tournament; and he was a member of the WI State Championship baseball team and the State Champion MSOE Jets Engineering Team. Jared was attending Michigan State University and was due to graduate in December with an honors degree in Applied Engineering Sciences. He worked as the Applied Engineering Sciences Webmaster, a professorial research assistant and an intern at GE Healthcare Systems. Jon Sticklen, the head of the engineering program, wrote "I count Jared as a friend and a student. He was one of the most academically adept students I have had the pleasure of working with. But beyond that was Jared's humanity, his quickness to help his fellow students, and his sense of humor. Jared was the rare student who had so many options open to him. I unequivocally know that no matter what Jared choose as his path, he would not just succeed, but succeed spectacularly. I was all set to watch Jared after graduation and see him start out and reach heights that I don't think even he saw yet." Jared is survived by: his parents Marc and Jodi (Lesiecki) Kavinsky; his grandparents Gerry and Judy Lesiecki; his aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. A Jared Kavinsky Engineering Scholarship has been established at Michigan State University. Checks should be made out to "Michigan State University" with the memo stating "In memory of Jared Kavinsky". Gifts should be mailed to: Engineering Development and Alumni Relations, 428 S. Shaw Lane, Room 3536, East Lansing, MI 48824 Visitation will be held at the Harder Funeral Home on Thursday, October 31 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM and Friday, November 1 from 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM with a service at 11:30 AM.

I remember Jared in our high school chess club. The guy was a very skilled player. He was an outstanding role model and rather quiet at times. Sometimes when I think of how to raise a kid, I think of Jared. He was a parent's dream child. Lastly, if there is one word to describe Jared, it's brilliant.

Marc & Jodi ~
I still have no words to adequately express the sympathy I feel for you and your family. Even weeks later you and your family are in my every thought and prayer. Jared was an incredible young man who was a true, long time friend to my son. One that inspired and will continue inspiring us all for many years to come. He was REAL and had such a witty sense of humor. Some people come into our lives and forever change them - he was one of these people to my son. You did such an amazing job raising such a caring and genuine young man into adulthood. His short life was well lived and the legacy he leaves behind is reflected in the many people who were deeply touched by knowing him. There is peace and healing in the Lord - rest in Him. God bless you.

I'm sorry, I never knew your son, but I saw the obituary in the paper the other day, and I was moved...What an incredible human being that he must have been...I just felt a deep sense of sympathy and sadness for what your family must be going through, to have lost such an incredible son, as I have two brothers and my mother is 80 and I cherish each moment with her. I cannot imagine what you're going through, but please know that there are others out here who feel your pain even though we never knew your son... very sad to read about this, I just thought I would let you know that other people care about what you're going through...god bless you and please accept my sympathies.

Jared was a sweet kid that was always waving to me when I saw him in the yard,he always had a smile on his face! I will never forget when you all first moved in and he came over and introduced himself to my husband and I and asked if he could walk thru our yard to catch the school bus, what teenage boy does that? The ones whose parents did a great job raising! He will be greatly missed
