It was only recentlythat I saw the Queens University memorial in thr NY Times. Alfred's History is similar to mine.We both were born in Vienna fled Hitler, were interned briefly in the UK as "enemy aliens". He went to Canada and I to the US. Fortuiously as stamp collectors we met in Milwaukee. He gave mehis auto biography and we made friends. Shalom

Dr Bader was a wonderful supporter of Chemistry. During my time on the Faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire he visited often. On one such visit, he gave a Chemistry Seminar, lectured in our School of Business and then gave a talk on Art History in our Art Department. He also loaned some of his art collection to the Art Department for a most impressive show. Such a kind and generous scholar!

Alfred Bader created from his, Please Bother Us, vision a company that grew to a size, scope and culture that supported chemical research throughout the world. During his visits to academic institutions he visited and supported Assistant Professors and Nobel Prize winning scientists. From these relationships and diligent review of scientific literature he brought new reagents to ready availability to all other chemists, thus substantially accelerating acquisition of new knowledge. Other entrepreneurs have done similar things but no one has achieved the scale that he has. Thank you, Alfred, for creating a company that also provided me a career of constant challenge and fulfillment.

What a full life! Great memories of spending time with Alfred and Isobel at Sigma Aldrich in Canada, then the UK and finally Milwaukee. He was the epitome of an entrepreneur...passionate about his business and his customers.
