Gebhard, LaVerne E. Born to Eternal Life May 4, 2014, at the age of 77. Loving sister of Richard and Bernice and was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Helen as well as her brothers Lawrence and Elmer. LaVerne is parting from her companion dog, Smiley, a beautiful Samoyed to whom she extended loving care and nourishment since he was a month old puppy. LaVerne has substantial credits to her achievements to herself and to society: She is a retired Accounting Senior Lecturer Educator (Sr. Lector.) U. W. M (1966-93), she possesses MBA (1964) from Marquette University, CPA (Jan. 1968), Certified Cost Analyst (1984), Certified Internal Auditor (1984), Certified Management Accountant (1980), Internal Auditor Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago (1958-1960), CMA Examination Administrator, ICMA-Milwaukee site (1984-97), articles submitted to professional journals, volunteer advisor to Milwaukee Historical Society, LaFarge Learning Center and others. She was included by Marquis Who's Who Publication Board, Who's Who of American Women 20th Edition 1997-98 that is limited to those individuals who have demonstrated outstanding achievements in their own fields of endeavor and who have, thereby, contributed significantly to the betterment of contemporary society. The World Who's Who of Women, 14th edition October 1997, Cambridge, England cites LaVerne Elizabeth Gebhard, who is hereby accorded recognition throughout the world for ACCOUNTING EDUCATION, ACHIEVER OF EXCELLENCE and as such is included in the Archives of the International Biographical Centre. Other exemplary achievements include: certification by Marquette University Robert A. Johnston College of Business Administration, April 23, 1958, that LaVerne E. Gebhard has been chosen as one of the twenty outstanding seniors of the 1958 graduating class of the Robert A. Johnston College of Business Administration. Selection was made of the basis of scholarship and service to the University; Recipient of the Citizen Ambassador award from People to People, Inc., 1991; Member of Marquette University President's Society, acknowledged by Scott Pilarz, S.J., President, October 8, 2012; Member of Institute of Internal Auditors; Member of Wisconsin Institute of CPA's (chapter Board of Directors 1987), Member of Institute of Management Accountants; Member of Beta Alpha Psi, 1959; Beta Gamma Sigma, 1958; Beta Alpha Psi (faculty vice president, officer, advisor, founder 1985 chapter and received a Plaque for WI CPA 25 years 1968-1993. As a member of the Marquette University President's Society it was acknowledged that LaVerne's generosity was substantial providing funds to assist female accounting majors with the purchase of study material and registration fees for the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) exam. LaVerne enjoyed global travel, reading, tennis, continuing education and extensive volunteer work which includes Wisconsin Fund Raisers, The Marcus Center, PGA tours and WTA tennis classics. She endured 2 years of wrestling with dementia; Goodbye LaVerne, enjoy your peace in heaven. The family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to the staff of Seasons Hospice for their genuine care and responsiveness, especially Jay and Dr. Kim. Private family interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorials in LaVerne's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association for the study of dementia.
