In Loving Memory

of

Harriet Johanna Christina Sharping

(nee Swangstu)

Harriet passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. Harriet was the devoted wife of Kenneth Sharping and the loving mother of Dale Kuster, Kevin Sharping, Laura Boyden, and Jay Sharping. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Harriet was a kind, caring, and generous person who always put the needs of her family before her own. She was a strong woman who faced life's challenges with grace, faith, and love. Always present when help or a listening ear was needed, she was a source of comfort and inspiration to her family and friends. Through her example, she taught the importance of family, hard work, and doing what is right.

Harriet graduated from Girls Tech in 1948. She worked at Wisconsin Telephone and later earned her real estate license. She was a life member of the Auxiliary to the VFW Post 5716 and volunteered for more than 20 years at Elmbrook Hospital. A woman of deep faith, she was baptized, confirmed, and married at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Milwaukee and was a longtime member of Reformation Lutheran Church in Brookfield, Wisconsin. She generously gave her time and resources to the church, finding renewal and inspiration through yearly retreats at Pine Lake Camp.

Harriet was also an active member of TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) and took great care in maintaining her health. She belonged to the YMCA and especially loved swimming.

As a devoted wife, Harriet was a steadfast supporter of Ken's organizational leadership, attending many Sheriff and Military conventions throughout the United States. Ken especially appreciated her help with financial matters, security, and snowplowing efforts. Together, they enjoyed traveling, with favorite memories including summers at Tom and Gladys Swangstu's cottage, "Ma's Rug," in Hatfield, Wisconsin. Their travels also took them to visit family and friends in Hawaii, Florida, California, Nevada, and New York, and Harriet enjoyed memorable trips to Europe with friends.

A celebration of Harriet's life will be held at Reformation Lutheran Church, 915 Adelmann Ave., Brookfield, on Friday, February 27, 2026. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., followed by a service at noon and lunch afterwards.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Reformation Lutheran Church or VITAS Hospice.

"Harriet will always remain in our hearts."

"We love her deeply and will never forget her."
