Passed away December 10, 2011 at his home in Vicksburg. Jake was born September 16, 1921 the son of Hildebrand and Tina (Kuilema) DeHaan. He graduated from Kalamazoo High School. Jake was married to Maud Dekema on January 23, 1942. He served in the U.S. Army and was assigned to the 91st infantry during WWII. He worked for M&T Battery for 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, golfing and traveling. Surviving Jake is his wife Maud; children, Patricia (Bill) Robinson of Plainwell, Sharon Connon of Grandville and Linda (Doug) Canning of Kalamazoo, MI; six grandchildren, Shelly (Robert) Kollpainter, Tracy Schmitt, Robert (Heather) Canning, Brian Canning, Misty (Weston) Gatewood and Blake Connon; and many great grandchildren. Also preceding Jake in death was his sister, Dena DeMoor and brothers, Pete, Nick and Bill DeHaan. Services will be held Friday, 2:00 o'clock at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 East Centre Ave., with Pastor Bufford Coe officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Vicksburg United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice. Jake and I were together for 74 years and life is just not the same without him, it's lonely and I miss him very much every day.

As a kid working in my Dad's service station I remember Jake calling on him when he worked for M&T, always a big smile and happy to see you, you always remember people like that. God Bless you Jake.
