JENNIFER WALDENMEYER Obituary

WALDENMEYER Jennifer Ann Waldenmeyer, 46, of Leawood, passed away Thursday evening November 10, 2016 after a years-long battle with Colon Cancer. Jennifer was born to Jim and Kathy Vosburgh of Wichita, KS. She was a proud graduate of Kapaun Mt. Carmel High School in Wichita, Class of 1988 and Marquette University in Milwaukee, Class of 1992 where she met her husband, Ulrich (Jay) Waldenmeyer. Jennifer was a woman of many talents and boundless energy, dedicating her time to her children and her passions of marathon and ultra marathon running, as well as being the head coach of track and field and cross country at Curé of Ars. She always carried a mission of inspiring a new generation of boys and girls to embrace all of the joy that running brings. Even through some of the most difficult times during the final few years, Jennifer had a way of reassuring others, never relinquishing participation in the things she loved until her final days. Jennifer is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Francis (FL) and Regina (Chub) Novascone and her paternal grandparents, Robert and Margaret Vosburgh. She is survived by her husband Ulrich (Jay) Waldenmeyer, and five children: Ulrich (Joey), Jacob (Jake), Henry (Hank), Hailey, and James (Howie). She is also survived by her parents James and Kathy Vosburgh, sister Mary (Missy) Koppers, and brothers James (Jay) and Joseph (Joe) Vosburgh. Finally, she is survived by her beloved and Instagram- famous bulldogs, Bubba and Puddin. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Boys Hope Girls Hope of Kansas City, 7700 Wedd Street, Suite 15, Overland Park, KS 66204 or The Colon Cancer Alliance, 1025 Vermont Ave., NW – Suite 1066, Washington, DC 20005. I have not seen Jennifer in several years, but our paths crossed regularly at hockey and gymnastics when the kids were younger. Jennifer's passion for life and amazing commitment to her family always served as beacon of light for me. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends.

My heart stopped for a moment when I read Jennifer's name in the obituaries on Monday. Our boys played hockey together and she was a wonderful person to be around. Such a positive person and a super mother to her kids and to all the other lil hockey players. There simply are no words. Bryson, Riley and myself truly know your pain and will be thinking of you.

Love to you all,
Angie, Bryson & Riley Trowbridge

Ella reminded our family that Jennifer was the reason she pushed herself for AAU. Jennifer gave her the confidence to go for it. Ella loved having her there at track when the boys practiced.
Jennifer was so selfless, she helped Liddy and I through her first surgery on her legs. She was recovering as well so she would call and send cards.
I love what Jennifer stood her. She was kind and sweet and positive. She will be missed. Prayers to your family Jay.

So sorry to hear of your loss. I did not know her well but enjoyed talking to her at parent-teacher conferences. If her two sons that I taught are any reflection of her, I am sure she was a great woman.

I have no words that will help ease your grieving. I can only say what I hope people will say to my family when it's my turn. Remembering her in what she loved, her laugh, when she got pissed off, and when she held you and comforted you. Her smell, her stubbornness, and her love for life. You keep going because you are her soul living on. Peace and prayers to all your family. ❤
