JOSEPH CANDIOTO Obituary

On November 19, 2015, the world is a little drabber and less colorful as our dear friend Joseph Candioto has left this world for another. Joe, a proud son of Oklahoma, was born in Okmulgee. As a young man he moved to the Kansas City area in the early sixties to open a beauty salon in Olathe. As his business grew, he started selling a few items of jewelry that quickly became the sole focus of his business. He soon opened a shop that catered to a clientele that appreciated beautiful jewelry and incredible antiques. He loved to garden and created a wonderful space around his pool to entertain and visit with his many friends. He is survived by his loving partner of 17 years, Martin Hedayatzadeh, son, Joe Anthony and grandsons, Joe Earl II and Anthony. Joe will be remembered as a kind, gentle soul who commanded his own sense of style. He loved his family and his many friends and they will surely miss him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be accepted at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital www.stjude.org Cremation Society of Kansas & Missouri, www.kccremation.com

My mom Dorothy Firmin knew Joe many years. I remember him doing my hair when I was about 5 years old that would have been about 1966. He was our family friend. He was good to my sister Roma when she was pursuing her singing career. We spent many times at his various shops and home. We adored Joe. I didn't discover his passing for some time. I discovered that he passed while I was in ICU in a coma 11/16/15 for two weeks and 3 months incapacitated in a hospital from a near fatal dog mauling, it took years to recover and left me an amputee. My mom was in her 90s and senile. If I had known I would have wanted to hug him and say farewell to such a great person that he was to my family. As I reminisce about my life. I thought I should take the time to add a comment. Hope Joe Jr. is doing ok. Sincerely Dora Firmin

A kind, gentle soul, a true friend to my mother. I used to love going to the salon and later his store, with her. He was quiet but bigger than life. Wonderful memories! Rest peacefully.

We have been very sad since the passing of our oldest and dearest friend. I have known Joseph for over 50 yrs, and spent many days and weekends going hunting for antiques when we were young.Joe was one of the kindest and most understanding men I have ever had the pleasure to know. I know the 45th and state line area will never be the same with out the smile of Joseph. Our Love goes out to Martin and the Family, and our love for him will always be in our hearts. Joseph rest in peace we will always Love you.
