Carlos Flores Obituary

Carlos is survived by his mother and father, Mollie and Juan Flores of Chattanooga, TN; a sister Maria Victoria Rogers, Okinawa, Japan; a brother Juan A. Flores, Jr., Raleigh, NC; niece and nephew Stephanie and Jonathan Rogers, Okinawa, Japan. He was preceded in death by his brother, Rick. He is also survived by his loving friend Steve Clayton. Carlos was a Concert Violinist - first playing at age 11 for the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra. He graduated from the New England Conservatory in Boston, played for the Boston Lyric Opera, Vermont Symphony, Chamber Orchestra New England, and other organizations, including the Boston Pops. He moved to Seattle in 1991. He was the long time Concert Master for the Bellevue Philharmonic and the Seattle Choral Company and played in the Auburn Symphony, Boise Philharmonic and numerous other orchestral groups. Carlos was also a founding member of the Seattle Metropolitan Quartet. He played in the recent Phillip Glass "Penal Colony" production for ACT and then moved on to play productions in Chicago and New York. Carlos was an accomplished artist and currently has work being displayed at the Woodside-Braseth Gallery in Seattle. He was sustained and touched by the beauty of nature and his love for the birds, animals, fishes, the oceans, and the mountains. He was a beloved member of the Northwest music community. A memorial concert will be performed by friends and members of the Bellevue Philharmonic and Seattle Choral Company at 3 PM on Sunday, July 6 at Meany Hall with reception to follow. Please join us to celebrate Carlos' spirit and wonderful life.
