Kathy, Cindy, and Ted,
I am sending my earnest condolences on the loss of your father, who was "Uncle Ollie" to me. I have fond memories of him through family pictures and time spent with your family in Knoxville many, many years ago.
May you find comfort in your memories of him as well,
Cousin Laura Thielke

Ruth and I want to offer our heartfelt condolences. John Oliver and Virginia were special friends to us. We shared our enthusiasm for antiques and our occasional dinners with them. Ruth and Bob Feinberg

John "Ollie" Thomson was a wonderful friend and a mentor when I joined the UTK faculty. He exemplified the collegiality and congeniality of the Department of Physics. He, Paul Huray and I shared an office and worked together on a variety of research. JOT's enthusiasm and joy of life were infectious and inspiring, whatever his activity. We shall miss him greatly.

Hey guys, sorry to hear about your dad. My dad (Jim Thompson) shared an office with "Mr Ollie" for years and I always looked forward to seeing him on our visits to the lab. Whenever I think of him these days, I still remember the fragrance of the pipe. You're in out thoughts and prayers.

Kathy, Cyndy, and Ted,
Your father was my mentor during my PhD studies, an office mate at UT, and a friend at outings (hiking in Yosemite, White water canoeing on the Hiawassee, and skiing in Gatlinburg). I regard him as one of the most honest people I have ever met and will miss him terribly. You can be very proud of your father.
