David Purvis Obituary

David Purvis

Knoxville - David Chilton Purvis was born in Charlottesville, Virginia on June 12, 1957 to Dr. John T. Purvis and Jeane Purvis Vann and passed away on December 13, 2020 with his dedicated wife and children by his side.

David grew up in Knoxville where he attended Bearden High School and the University of Tennessee. The details of those years are vague and thankfully before social media to document his antics. He lived in Farragut, TN for over 35 years and in 2000, he married the love of his life, Robin, and together they built a life filled with love and patience. As a dedicated and driven businessman, David was the owner of Healthone Medical Billing and a partner of Cvikota Medical Billing Services. He and his wife Robin were also the proprietors of Farragut Wine & Spirits.

David had a huge heart for children. He served on both the Knoxville, State of Tennessee and national board of directors for Childhelp, a non-profit organization that provides care and support for children in abusive families. David created two fundraising events, Les Trois Chefs and Oyster fest, that together have raised more than two million dollars over the years to support Childhelp.

David invested countless hours giving back to his hometown of Farragut. He was one of the founding members and chairman of the Farragut Business Alliance (FBA), whose mission is to help promote business growth and development in the Farragut community. While serving on the FBA, David started the ever-popular Taste of Farragut festival that brought out thousands of people in the community to support Farragut businesses. One cannot look around this town and not see something that David was involved in to help the growth and stability of the community he loved. David also served on the Farragut Economic Development Committee and was a member of the Leadership Knoxville Class of 2013.

At the heart of it, David never met a stranger. His personality was larger than life, and he had many friends that loved him dearly. He was a big teddy bear with no hair and had a quick wit that was unmatched. The more David razzed you the more you knew he truly cared about you. In addition to his driven work ethic, he passionately loved his time with family and friends. When that time included a great bottle of wine or three, picking out a fabulous barrel of Kentucky bourbon or enjoying a fantastic culinary experience, it was considered time well spent. He also enjoyed playing golf with his buddies at Fox Den Country Club - although he rarely broke 100.

David is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Robin; daughter, Julia Purvis Jubran (Omar); son, Kurt Purvis; grandson, Harrison Jubran, his five brothers and sisters, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Services will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that all who wish to honor David to make donations to Childhelp, Tennessee and/or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. I knew David and a youngster and then the he was a young banker and then as a young businessman. He as a sincere and motivated young man and set out to do well for himself and his family. And he accomplished all of that . His contributions to his community will carry on as a tribute to his efforts.

I am very sorry to hear of David’s passing. David was a good man, always had a smile on his face and positive. He and Robin were very kind to me as a salesperson that called on them. I know he will be greatly missed by many people. My condolences to Robin and family.
