Jeffrey Scott Guilford, age 70, of Knoxville, beloved husband, father and G-Pa died on Friday, January 26, 2018, and now enjoys his true home with the Lord. Jeff was born on February 7, 1947, in Santa Monica, California. After serving 22 years in the US Army in the Judge Advocate General Corp as a family and environmental law attorney, he worked 20 additional years at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in employment law. He spent his retirement years delighting in time spent with his family and especially his nine joy-bringing grandchildren, studying God's word, teaching English as a Second Language and helping with Car Care Saturday - a ministry to single mothers and widows. He was a God-worshiping, wife-cherishing, children-loving, grandchild-chasing, car-fixing, creative-problem-solving, Hawaiian-shirt-wearing kind of guy whose hugs would swallow you whole. He was loving, wise, humble, kind and witty. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard O. Guilford, of Santa Monica, CA. He was the beloved and loving husband of Cheryl Guilford of Knoxville, TN, and much loved dad and father-in-law to Brad and Joy Guilford (Knoxville), Matt and Ariana Guilford, (Frisco, TX), and Becca and Matt Kubo (Knoxville). He also leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Elsie Guilford (Knoxville), brother and sister-in-law the Honorable Andrew and Loreen Guilford (Trabuco Canyon, CA), sister and brother-in-law Elaina and Adolfo Gutierrez (Knoxville) and many loving friends that were like family. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, February 3 at 4:00 pm at Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00 pm.
