Lawrence Taylor Obituary
Knoxville, TN
Lawrence August Taylor, age 79, of Knoxville passed away at home in the company of his beloved wife, Dawn and his daughter, Kelly, on September 18, 2017. Larry recently retired after 46 years of service at the University of Tennessee where he was the founder and director of the Planetary Geosciences Institute. Larry's legacy of excellence in scientific research will endure through the generations of students and colleagues he has worked with over his many years at UT. Larry particularly enjoyed incredible travel adventures with colleagues from around the world and particularly traveling with his wife, Dawn.
Larry was born in Patterson, New Jersey, raised in Port Jervis, New York, and a graduate of Indiana University (Bachelor and Master Degrees) and Lehigh University (PhD). Following his years as a student, Larry completed a post-doctoral research fellowship at Max Plank Institute in Heidelberg Germany.
Larry is survived by his wife, Dawn; children, Kelly (David) Parra, and their children Christopher, Rachel, and Jacob, Jeff (Sarah) Taylor and their children, Katie, Declan, Liam, and Maggie.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

I hope you know how much Larry will be missed....especially by a fellow rebel like me! I truly loved Larry, and can not thank him enough for his 'tough love' support.
