Hugh E. (H.E.) Hearn

Hugh E. (H.E.) Hearn, age 70, of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, departed this earthly life on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at his home with his loving family by his side.
Born in Selmer, TN on December 18, 1947, he was the son of the late Mayhugh and Canetha Hearn of Selmer, TN. He graduated from Selmer High School as salutatorian, attended University of the South at Sewanee and graduated in 1971 from University of Tennessee in Civil Engineering. He earned Eagle Scout and the God and Country award in the Boy Scouts. He worked at A.B. Long Construction, Longwa Mining Company, North American Coal and was General Manager of Beech Grove Processing, Cross Mtn. Coal and Valley View Coal. He was owner of Cumberland Coal Co. in Crossville, TN and co-owner of Appalachian Resources Management Company and past president of FACT, a Tennessee coal association. He also served in the Tennessee National Guard. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Helenwood, TN.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Katherine and grandparents T.E. and Orpha Wilkinson and Robert and Mattie Hearn.
He is survived by his wife Katie of Robbins, TN; sons Andy and wife Joy of Boise, ID and their children: Ian, William, Emma and Moriah; Alan and wife Tracy of Robbins, TN and their children: Samantha, Becky, Megan, Abi and Joey; brother Jeff Hearn and his wife Jane of Raleigh, NC, and their sons David of Raleigh and Thomas and his wife Susan and their son Carter of Raleigh.
Receiving of family and friends will be at Trinity Baptist Church on Tuesday evening, October 23, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be Wednesday morning, October 24, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the family farm in Robbins, TN. The church building is located at 2065 Old Jamestown Rd., Helenwood, TN 37755.
