David Grimes Obituary

David Grimes

Knoxville, TN

David Michael Grimes, age 30, passed away suddenly on December 4, 2016, in Knoxville. David was loved and cherished by all who knew him. His quest for adventure, travel, meeting new people and experiencing new things allowed him to do more in 30 years than most do in a lifetime. He was comfortable and at ease with everyone. His fun and loving spirit captivated all that met him and made you feel like you had known him for years. Everyone was equal in his eyes - he made no judgments. He left this world too early and will leave an empty place in the hearts of all who knew him. Words cannot express the sadness that is our hearts.

David is survived by his parents, Wayne and Susan Grimes; sister and brother-in-law, Melissa and Patrick McInerney; Grandparents, Roland Sullivan, Barbara Stringer; Uncles and Aunts, Randy and Diane Grimes, Garland and Lorie Mahan, Ron and Cindy Grimes, Greg and Kathy Grimes, Joey and Sheree Suire, Jay and Kay Wallace, Scott and Carla Sullivan, Roland and Penny Sullivan; Cousins, Whit Mahan, Christina Mahan, Austin Grimes, Connor Grimes, Logan Grimes, Eric Grimes, Ash Grimes, Amanda Minor, Diana Breeden, Rachel Hamerly, Brian Suire, Aaron Wallace, Daniel Wallace, Jessica Sullivan, Gracie Sullivan, Aleah Rae; and many other loving family members and friends. Preceded in death by grandparents, Fred and Elena Grimes.

The family will have a celebration of David's life on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. followed by a receiving of friends in the chapel at Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church, 9132 Kingston Pike, Knoxville TN. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Joy of Music School, Knoxville, TN. www.joyofmusicschool.org. Wayne and Sue:
It is with a heavy heart that I send my prayers up for you. Although it has been several years since I have seen you all, such great memories have remained with me. I shall always treasure the times we were all together. I took great delight in David and all the gang that hung out at our house. Memories of laughter most of all. I will always miss David and the great fun I had in watching the kids grow. We send our love to you

I remember David as a very sweet, kind, gentle, thoughtful soul. He was a good friend and good influence to my son while they were in high school together. I'm truly saddened that he is no longer with us.

It has been a long time since I've seen David, but he was a constant when I was young. I remember walking into his house and the overwhelming feeling of love that accompanied it. I remember playing 'Categories' in the neighborhood pool and playing in the creek at the end of the cup-de-sac. He will forever be a part of who I am. I will never forget his heart, as his played a part in molding mine. What I know of David, he had strong convictions, was kind, and he loved his family and friends. Sue, Wayne and Melissa- I'm so sorry and I love you. I'm grateful for you and I'm there with you in spirit. Thinking and praying for you. I'm so sorry for your loss.

A bright light to many.

Because of David, I started climbing. He took me to my first crag and inspired me to overcome my fear of heights. He helped lead me down a path that has forever shaped my future. I was climbing with David when I first met my husband. I have him to thank for all the blessing in my life. I will always remember his sweet smile, his amazing sense of humor, his love of adventure and our beautiful earth, and his friendship that forever changed me and my life for the better. God blessed me with David's friendship.
I'm so sorry for your lose, Grimes family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
