Charlie Sanders

Loudon - Charles Frank Sanders "Charlie" age 77 of Loudon, passed away Friday, April 9, 2021. Charlie was born to the late Archie Floyd and Alice (Crawford) Sanders in Pontiac, Michigan. Charlie was a patriotic man serving his country in the US Air Force. He enjoyed a 35 year career with General Motors. A talented builder and remodeler, Charlie owned a construction company called Sandalwood Construction serving a multitude of clients in the Tellico Village and Loudon Communities. Charlie enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing and he was an avid gardener. He looked forward to planting and harvesting his vegetable crop each year. More importantly, he felt so very blessed to share his abundant crops with friends and neighbors. Charlie would help anyone in need. He was kind, generous and wealthy in knowledge of most things. He adored his family and they adored him. In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by a very special aunt, Mildred Hanrahan. He is survived by his wife of nearly 58 years, Kathleen "Kathie" Sanders; children and spouses, Tammy (Sanders) and Tim Travis, Zephyr, TX, Jeff and Theresa Sanders, Independence, MO and Tracy (Sanders) and Kenny Hurst, Maryville, TN; grandchildren and spouses, Erica and Jake Parsons, Baleigh and Matt Dodaro, Jonathan Travis, Andrew, Tyler, Jessica, and Cody Sanders, Ashley Page, Stephanie Hurst, McKenzie Hurst, Jackie and Aaron MacPhetridge, Kenny Ray Hurst and Geena Hurst; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy McCorkle and a special friend, Chad Slagle. A time of visiting with friends will be held 5:00 pm - 8:00 PM Tuesday at McGill Click Funerals & Cremations. Services honoring and remembering Charlie Sanders will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, April 14th, in McGill Click Chapel with Mr. Andrew Templeton and Bishop Kenneth Carpenter officiating. Contributions in memory of Charlie may be made to the Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee, 136 Harvest Lane, Maryville, TN 37801 or online at www.community.secondharvestETN.org. An interment service with full military honors provided by the US Air Force and the Loudon County Veterans Honor Guard will follow in the Loudon County Memorial Gardens, Lenoir City.
