REMEMBERANCE: May God's love be with you all. Life is but a single walk with Yah, As we are but one; even so our lives shines in this world as He is, so are we, and we that has been. And in Him, we all remain forever, all eternity. Your love one will always remain alive in your hearts, in all those things that he taught, things you seen and shared with him, things that you heard him say, saw him do, and shared with him, are all there within each and every one of you. And as you share his legend with your love ones, And the next generation to come, may you find that the one you loved so much is still alive even within you all, your heart. IN REMEMBRANCE.

Brother Overton was a great man with many Christian attributes. He really allowed God to use him. No doubt, our God, Father and Son, welcomed him to Heavenly Home with Angelic Chorus. I could never forget how both Basil & Margie were my good and true friends. I loved the whole family very much. A family photo 1960. Love,

What a great man. His influence will continue in the students he taught and loved. I am so grateful to have driven him to many of his speaking engagements and the privilege of helping to send The World Evangelist to the four corners of the world. My prayers are with Sister Overton, Tessa and Gretchen. Your family is loved and appreciated.

Basil was one of the most uncomplicated people I ever knew. I learned to love he and Margie when Bill and I returned from Thailand to work in Florence. We had many good Chats in the old Students center on the campus at IBC. He was a kind and loving person who loved and had time for everyone. Bettye beck

I do not know who wrote his obituary, but it captured the essence of Basil Overton very well! I cannot remember a time when I did not know the name of Basil Overton as a great family friend and well-respected minister. His passing is a great loss to many. Praying that his family and friends will take comfort in knowing that he is now reunited on the other side with so many of his compatriots, including his dear wife Margie - and that we shall see him again some day!

We appreciated brother Overton. He and my father, Paul J. Waller, were classmates and good friends at Freed-Hardeman College many years ago. He spent time in my grandparents' home in Paducah, KY. He was a great asset to the cause of Christ. Our sympathy to the family.

Our first trip to Lexington, in 1964, was to look for a house as Sid was to begin a Radiology Residency at UK.
Margie and Basil graciously insisted we stay with them in the big old house by Southside Church of Christ.
That began a friendship filled with sweet fellowship, mentoring, learning about living the Christian life, growing in the Lord, and hours of fun, enjoying their hospitality and more funny stories than you can imagine.
Farewell, dear friend. We were blessed to know you.

Our love goes out to the family of Basil Overton, who was our Southside (Lexington, KY) preacher and College Bible Class teacher when we were UK students back in 1963-68. His classes on "Christian Evidences" increased our faith in God and the Bible. We will always love this precious family. Jesse and Jane Gough, Brentwood, TN

We met Basil and Margie when we moved to Lexington in 1962. Basil baptized Tom and we were taught and encouraged until they moved to Nashville. We loved the family very much and want to express our sympathy and love to all of you. Love in Christ, Tom and June

When Bro Overton first moved to Florence I wanted to meet him because I had heard what a good man/ preacher he was. I contacted him about holding a gospel meeting at Pinehill Church of Christ and he accepted and we became friends. From that time on I admired him as a good man and a most interesting preacher. I will continue to remember his family in my thoughts and prayers. Granville Faires.

I was crushed to hear of Brother Overton's passing. He was a spiritual father to me in many ways. It was he who gave me the passion for studying the Restoration Movement and going to cemeteries and looking at tombstones. He taught me that you can learn a lot about people from what is written on their tombstones. It was he that was responsible for me teaching at IBC and Heritage. He believed in me when others did not. I could always go to him and ask his advice on things that were important to me. He was one of the clearest thinking men I have ever known. He loved good humor. Many times I would give him some mule story and we would have a good laugh. He was a staunch believer in God's word and loved to teach it. He was a good man in many ways and he is missed. By the way, he was a very good editor and preacher too. He always said: "I love what I am doing; Because I do not know what I am doing. That was the Basil Overton I knew.
I will keep your family ever in my prayers

I first met Bro. Basil at a brush arbor meeting he preached in at Pillowville, Tn. I always looked forward to hearing him preach there every year. Always enjoyed reading the mule musings in the World Evangelist.
