John Stewart Obituary

John Gordon Stewart, 74, of Bardstown, died Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at his residence. He was the son of the late Jesse Gordon and Teresa Blanche Peake Stewart, born Jan. 5, 1942, in Louisville. He was a retired employee of Jim Beam Brands, a former employee of Smith Bros. Trucking, a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and former member of the Army Reserve.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Jude Stewart.
Survivors include his wife, Karin Jacobs Stewart; two daughters, Veronica Stewart, of Bardstown, Sherry (Doug) Young, of Springfield; a sister, Carol (Gene) Urbanavage, of Louisville; two brothers, Ron (Pamela) Stewart, of Lincolnton, N.C., Don (Katherine) Stewart, of Lexington, N.C.; and four grandchildren, Taylor Stewart, Corey Stewart, Wes Young and Stewart Young.
A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Rev. Matthew Hardesty and Rev. Jim Mudd will celebrate. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday, July 15, at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road and after 8:30 a.m. Saturday, July 16. A prayer service will be 4 p.m. Friday, July 15, at the funeral home.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contribution to Kosair Children's Hospital or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

I didn't know John very well, but I will never forget the time we spent with our Peake cousins in Bardstown nearly 20 years ago. I'm so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
